GARDEN GURU #4

GARDEN GURU #4
Building better soil
For healthy plants and better harvest, build from the ground up.
1. DIG THE SOIL BUT DON'T TURN IT OVER
Your soil is an ecosystem in and of itself, over exposure to sun and light can be harmful, just wiggle your garden fork around and make room for the roots to go down.
2. FEED THE SOIL WITH ORGANIC MATTER
You can use leaves from last year, grass clippings, your own compost or store bought, fish meal etc... It takes years to cultivate and improve the soil, start small and it will help
We planted our seeds on Saturday. We had already worked with the soil the last 3 years. If you are a beginner, don't worry just keep at it and over the years it will get richer.
People have been asking what we planted. Here is a list:
Eggplant
Broccoli
Red Potatoes
Carrots
Spinach
Lettuce
Green Onion
Squash
Zucchini
